Stephen Allen Davis wrote what would become his first hit song when he was 17 years old. It was in 1967 the summer he graduated from high school and the smash hit was " TAKE TIME TO KNOW HER" recorded by Percy Sledge. It soon went to the top of the charts and earned Stephen his first two BMI awards in the R&B and Pop categories.
Stephen has gone on to have over 300 recordings including an unprecedented eight (8) by Joe Cocker and also Diana Ross’s signature hit “The Best Years of My Life". Stephen has received 19 BMI Awards to date and his songs have been on records which have sold in excess of 40 million units. Such diverse acts as Tammy Wynette, Meatloaf, Memphis Slim and John Hiatt have chosen to record songs written by Stephen Allen Davis.
